Washington, DC  – Global Press News Services (GPNS), a division of international non-profit media organization Global Press, has named sustainable journalism expert Celia Wu as Managing Director to expand global access to the organization’s B2B products and services. She will oversee a suite of services elevating standards and practices in the corporate and nonprofit sectors by promoting employee well-being and advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Wu brings over 30 years of experience in media production, revenue operations, and journalism to Global Press News Services. Before joining GPNS, she worked with major media and business corporations including, MSN Asia (Microsoft), Vice Media, and Turner Entertainment. Her comprehensive background in creating, developing, and disseminating news complements the wide range of products GPNS offers, including resources addressing language equity and an impressive photo collection focused on source dignity from Global Press’s network of professional reporters.

“Celia’s dedication to journalism sustainability and innovation as well as her global life and work experiences exemplify the commitment of Global Press News Services to support local journalism for both local and international audiences,” said Global Press Chief Operating Officer Laxmi Parthasarathy. Parthasarathy also drew attention to Wu’s deep understanding of the unique needs of local reporters and the organization’s award-winning Duty of Care program, which provides a holistic approach to the well-being and safety of local women reporters who do not have the option to relocate as non-local correspondents often can.

“Joining Global Press News Services is a culmination of my work around journalism sustainability with media corporations that provide the infrastructure for journalistic excellence,” Wu said. “I am inspired by the vision of Global Press and am eager to bring these services, built on what Global Press has learned from operating in global markets, to organizations around the world who want to develop DEI and Safety and Security standards for their employees.”
